Fugen Constructions was engaged in a Design & Construct capacity to deliver the refurbishment of ‘The Bergs’ Bistro at the iconic Bondi Icebergs over two stages. The works involved the construction of a new kitchen and servery, expanded dining area featuring elevated finishes and custom banquette seating, new bathroom amenities, new main bar & sports bar and bespoke, handcrafted ceiling detail.

Fugen Constructions tackled the logistical challenges of the site’s proximity to Bondi Beach and its integration within the existing club with tailored solutions. Limited access was managed by utilising the small lift and fire stairs, requiring significant manual effort for materials handling. Deliveries were strategically timed to avoid peak pedestrian traffic. To meet noise restrictions from the restaurant above, works were staged in multiple phases, and noisy works were scheduled outside of operating hours. Fugen also adapted to design changes by implementing flexible work processes and coordinating closely with the design team to keep the project on track.

The final result stands as a testament to Fugen’s skill in working in live environments, showcasing a space that blends modern coastal design with a relaxed art-deco flair, with one of the most stunning views of Bondi Beach.
