Fugen Constructions successfully completed the refurbishment of The Oaks Hotel, a historic venue located in the heart of The Oaks township. Originally established in 1863 as a weigh station for travellers, the hotel has evolved into a much-loved community destination, serving locals and visitors for more than 160 years.
The refurbishment enhanced the hotel’s functionality, accessibility, compliance and overall guest experience while preserving its character and heritage. Works included the refurbishment of the existing Public Bar, Main Bar, Dining Room and Terrace, construction of a new Gaming Room, upgrades to the northern and southern courtyards including landscaping and a new children’s playground, a new commercial kitchen, upgraded amenities, and car park resurfacing with new accessible parking spaces. The project also incorporated significant compliance, fire-rating and infrastructure upgrades to support the venue’s long-term operation.
Delivered within a fully operational hotel environment, the project required careful staging, detailed planning and close stakeholder coordination. This approach enabled the venue to remain open throughout construction, including the successful implementation of a temporary gaming room to support ongoing operations and minimise disruption.
Fugen is proud to have contributed to the revitalisation of this historic venue, ensuring it continues to serve the local community while preserving the character and charm that have made it a valued destination for generations.
