Fugen Constructions was engaged to deliver the staged extension and refurbishment of Worrigee Sports Club, transforming key areas of the existing venue while maintaining full operation throughout the works.
Works included a new external gaming room extension, upgrades to the kitchen and bistro bar, construction of new administration and meeting spaces, improvements to the main entry and porte-cochere, and the delivery of a new driveway entrance to the Club.
Delivering works within a live club environment required careful planning and sequencing. The project was delivered across multiple stages to ensure continuity of operations, with clear separation between construction zones and active patron areas.
Maintaining access, managing noise and disruption, and ensuring safety for staff and members were central considerations throughout the programme.
A flexible approach to programming was adopted in response to existing structural conditions and in-ground services identified during construction. Adjustments were made as required to maintain progress across critical areas.
Key operational spaces, including the kitchen, bistro bar and servery, were prioritised to align with trading requirements. This ensured the Club remained operational during peak periods, including the Melbourne Cup.
The completed redevelopment delivers upgraded hospitality and operational spaces that improve functionality and enhance the overall member experience.
This project represents Fugen’s second engagement with Worrigee Sports Club, with the established working relationship supporting effective coordination and communication throughout delivery.
The project demonstrates Fugen’s capability to deliver complex, staged refurbishments within live hospitality environments, while maintaining programme control and operational continuity.
